I heard Branson offered $1 billion and he said no.

Have you heard him attempt to "sing" lately? His cords are toast and it shows gruesomely on his solo tours. I would assume [don't know/don't care/wouldn't listen] that his latest album is crafted a little more appropriately around the confines of that empty throat-tank, but he can't even mount much of a rally on old Plant solo stuff let alone Zep screeching. More power to him...he's certainly gotten a lifetime-and-a-half out of that voice. But I don't blame him for demurring. Nobody wants to embarrass themselves, and he's got a realistic grip on what he can and can't do these days.

I think he sounded about as good in 06 as he has post 72 when his voice dropped. But Jesus, 06 was already 8 years ago...
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Now they're saying the 800M - 1B story was bullshit.

He was smart to turn it down. $800M? That's coolie wages.

Hey, the Coda special edition is the one album with legit outtakes. This one isn't great, but fun: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/ ... lsLmNvbQ==

I guess it makes sense to put any outtakes on the outtakes album.

When I read further, it sounds like they might not be as outtake-y as I had thought. With this whole remasters campaign, I think I could make a six song EP of outtakes.
