Hoylter.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

"Tea for One" cried Flex as he loaded up his tracking arm to hear The Ramones for the first time. He knew there and then his life had just begun.

I guess it makes sense to put any outtakes on the outtakes album.
When I read further, it sounds like they might not be as outtake-y as I had thought. With this whole remasters campaign, I think I could make a six song EP of outtakes.
Well shit, Coda's outtakes of outtakes are actual legit outtakes. So here's my tally of actual outtakes in the Remasters Project (as opposed to alt mixes, instrumental mixes):
1
(none, included live convert from that era)
2
La La
3
Jennings Farm Blues
Keys to the Highway/Trouble In Mind
4
(none)
Houses of the Holy
(none)
Physical Graffiti -
Everybody Makes It Through (In the Light with different lyrics, very different verses)
Presence -
10 Ribs & All/Carrot Pod Pod (Pod) - Probably the most bizarre Zeppelin song title...and it's an instrumental 70's soft rock tune
In Through the Out Door
(none)
Coda -
If It Keeps On Raining
Sugar Mama
Four Hands (Bombay Orchestra)
Friends (Bombay Orchestra)
St. Tristan's Sword
Bring It On Home (Rough Mix)
Everybody Makes It Through (different from version included in Phys Graffiti collection, same music as the final version of In the Light, but very different lyrics, so I'm counting it)

I've got a copy of the boxset from years back. Are these remasters a noticeable upgrade to those with tin ears? (That is, I can tell a difference in the Beatles and Clash remasters, but most remaster jobs are lost on me.)

I cannot tell the difference with anything, so I'll defer to anyone but me. Original remasters were I think 1990, so it was a better time than say, 1986.

That's your default answer to everything.
