I've got my punk seminar this afternoon, so of course I've been listening to the Housemartins this morning.
😏😎
I just realized I'm even wearing a cardigan!
Cardigans are the anti rock n roll.
No damned way I'm wearing a tie, tho. Or that spiked bracelet thing.

I actually ate a digestive biscuit on camera today. It was all we had for snacks in the house. :disshame:

Man, Lydon's 76/77 look still looks so cool.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Agree. At that time his impoverished look gave him his own uniqueness.

He was remarkably and naturally photogenic. If I'd just seen a picture of that band in '76, I'd want to know what they sound like just because of Rotten. As Marky said, his impoverishment was put to very effective use.

I should add that I mentioned you in passing in class as a rebuttal to the Greil Marcus/Jon Savage views of the Pistols as some kind revolutionary art terrorism. You thought they were just a cool, fun, loud, and snotty hard rock band.

This … is better than I thought it would be. Not fantastic, but it's decent.

Also, found this bit re. a Housemartins reunion: https://www.theguardian.com/music/live/ ... navigation

In short, only if the Smiths do it. So, yeah, Fatboy Slim to none.

Just another pop act with a singer who hadn't had his breakfast.

Definitely if it keeps that singer hungry. Just looks what happens when these guys can afford more food.

I believe this is the photo you wanted:

(I know this is partly thyroid related, but still, Johnny has a full fridge these days.)

No I don't care how fat he is personally. Only how bloated with crap the music becomes.

Plus that pick is a good two years old and John is slimmer now.

Then TWIN is what you wanted. (I confess to a weird affection for TIWYW. Maybe it's because I discovered it when I was still just gobbling up everything punk/post-punk/alt I could find, so I'm inclined to treat it more affectionately.)

Presumably doctors have found the right combination of meds and dosage for his thyroid.
