So are raccoons a revered animal in Germany as opposed to annoying garbage eaters?

Quite the opposite! An invasive species introduced by a Nazi!

Also, I revere raccoons. As an annoying garbage eater myself.

Coincidentally, we had a rare daytime (like, 4 pm) raccoon sighting here yesterday. Crawling along our fence and then onto our neighbour's tree and roof. No evidence of being German, tho.

They're generally considered a plague. They're a pretty local phenomenon though, I believe, mainly around Kassel and the Berlin-Brandenburg area.

So like squirrels are here.

I did have a raccoon in my cherry tree last year one night (probably others too) which is not how an animal endears itself to me.

Was it rabid? My psycho neighbor across the street shot and killed a rabid raccoon a few weeks ago instead of calling animal control like those of us whop aren't complete fucking psychos would do.

No clue. It wasn't acting odder than any other raccoon.

You just dont normally get them out during the daylight so that's a bit odd

Yup, I agree. Probably due to cancel culture messing everything up.
