Another candidate for the Worst Song of the 80s:
Never heard that before. I think it's pretty nifty.
Same. Agreed.
Im still afraid of clicking on that link. Id have to stream nothing but death metal for 3 days straight to get my youtube feed back in harmony.
I thought I knew the artist (I didn't). Absolutely hideous song. Imagine the song "Footloose" sped up slightly on a continual loop. I feel you owe me now.
This is putrid. I've never liked Styx and I definitely don't like solo Tommy Shaw. He was also a member of Damn Yankees with the awful Ted Nugent.

That explains a lot. ;)

Was just reading up on the Kids From Fame today and I can't believe they had all these big hits in the UK but nothing in the US. This is a pop masterpiece...

The version from the tv show is inferior but this has to be one of the most unintentionally hilarious videos ever...

Our paths are diverging in a major way.
We were getting too close, I had to post an alienation video.
Works like a charm. Oh and here's my submission ...

Did I just wake up in the 80s? Urrrgh! I like some 80s music but as a song this is plain awful. If we're talking just about melody and song construction then i could understand someone respecting the structure. But the final outcome is hideous.

I like melody and it's key to a good song for me but that doesn't mean it needs to be played to perfection. It can be as ragged as fuck because if the melody is strong it will still shine through.

Those lyrics are just poo.
I can fully take your points on board but I really like the lyrics in a pop context. They are using the theme of fidelity to refer to both "sound" and the concept of being faithful. At least a bit of thought has gone into it.

And you're right, it's the song structure I admire, with a bit of nostalgia thrown in. I danced to this with Angela Ord at our 1982 school xmas disco.

What can I say. If the song has nostalgic meaning for you then that transcends all other points. It's no longer just a silly song but a reference to a time and a place. This is the power of music. It doesn't necessarily make the song great but it does make it personal.

Did you make it passed first base with Angela? Come on spill the beans. ;)

True fact which I am still sad I know. That football headline had been knocking about for a few years but was being kept for who was even then the media darling of the poor excuse for Scotland's football journalists at the time, and had he scored a headline against them it would have read, "Super Ally...".

I would have put Howard Pickup on that list somewhere. His chords didn't sound like anyone else's because they had more than three notes in them.

Stuart Adamson - The Skids
Paul Fox - The Ruts

2 more that spring to mind. There's loads missing and it's amazing how many good guitar players punk threw up.
