The Clash’s 20 greatest songs of all time

https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/the-clash- ... -time/amp/

I don't completely agree .
They got the #1 right. I'd say 17 or 18 of those would be in my top 20, tho with a different order.
Complete Control at 19?? We all know that is their best track ;)
The biggest mistake in that error-ridden article is when they say Complete Control was the only time Mick ever played a guitar solo. I mean, what the fuck, GEER is one long guitar solo. Pitiful journalism.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

There's solos all over every one of their singles. And nearly every track on the first album.

Yeah, unfathomable why they would say that.

I revisited a bit of Carbon Silicon tonight for the first time in years. Some real quality in the songwriting but that drum machine sounds even worse with the passing of time. You can virtually take your pick of drummers in London and you use this incessant, wearisome drum pattern for every song. I still don't know what they were thinking.

You have to take it as a lo-fi, punky wack attack hip hop beat.

Yeah, I may actually be more charitable to the drum machine than I was at the time. It's charming and feels very deliberately out of phase with mainstream tastes. It might have kept C/S from truly being a force to be reckoned with, but it's endearing as the years go on.
