Hello,

Somehow, the above reminded me of this. Regardless, it's always worth watching (this one has still got the old tagger on it).

This should go in the Wolter thread for at least two reasons.
Maybe it's the beer talking, but Bob you got a butt that won't quit. They got those chewy pretzels here [unintelligible] five dollars? Get outta here - Richard Nixon, inebriated, to Bob Haldeman, Oval Office recording, 20 June 1972

Didn't know he was a fan actually.

Yeah, he has mentioned he was really into their early 90s albums when he was younger and I think still stands by them. For example:

My favorite is when Heston derisively calls Wolter "Dimebag."
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Ha! Yes, I remember that. Heston is one of our low-key insult artists.

Here's the math:

lots of thing > Pantera > lots and lots more things, not the least of which is Hoy's piss activities > Kiss
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead

Whenever I see those early conversations about KISS, I'm struck by how I was much more accommodating to Heston. Two things happened: 1) He forced me to really think about KISS, which led to my ardent hostility; 2) He forced me to realize that he will make you regret ever supporting him in anything. He's taught me a lot.

Ew, "We Pray" is bad. Tacking on these young rapper features feels so forced and even Chris Martin attempts a delivery similar to Burna Boy's. It's not like it's that catchy either to make up for this embarrassing attempt at cultural relevance.

"JUPiTER" came on after, it wasn't an SNL song, but it's basically an acoustic Chris Martin song. It's much better. I mean I don't really need this, but it's fine and some of the backing vocals and strings are inspired flair.

"All My Love" is a piano ballad. Holy hell this is so sappy. Where is the epic sweep of "Fix You"? Oh the drums came in. And it's still so boring. God this is sappy even by their standards.

Nevermind, you guys were right.
"Fix You" is fucking excruciating. That falsetto makes me want to kill someone.

I'm with the common consensus that their early stuff wasn't groundbreaking, just harmless, tuneful indie. "Trouble" was the song I was quite fond of. Their output over the last 12 years or so is dreadful though. It all seems like a calculated move to stay relevant. I was actually starting to get angry about their recent single when it came on in the office, to the point that people were asking me if I was okay.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Also just read that Kiss, Pantera, None of the above Poll/thread, just voted now. This passed me by entirely. I think 2010 was some of my lost years
