Next week my punk class are reading Kevin Mattson’s book about punk in the Reagan years. I’ll be sharing that piece with them because the book’s frame is, in fact, well, you have to understand what Reagan meant …Flex wrote: ↑02 Feb 2023, 2:01pmDr. Medulla wrote: ↑02 Feb 2023, 1:52pmDrenched in truth: https://thehardtimes.net/music/what-pun ... ite-house/

Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread
This jogged a vivid memory - although I'm blanking on who I was actually talking to or in what specific context - of being in high school and talking to some fellow Young Punker who thought that "Reagan Thatcher" was the name of one person. Which is pretty understandable if you're a kid in the late 90s who doesn't, like, read the liners for these old songs and just hears those names spit out next to each other like a million times. At the time I think I was too dumbfounded to say anything though.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑02 Feb 2023, 2:15pmNext week my punk class are reading Kevin Mattson’s book about punk in the Reagan years. They've just copied what I did in the Friday Top 5 thread a few years back.WestwayKid wrote: ↑01 Feb 2023, 4:22pmJoy Division/New Order have been nominated for the Rock Hall of Fame. Interesting that they're lumping them together. Same thing happened with The Small Faces / Faces, which is a similar story. One band loses a lead singer, but they continue on with a new member or two.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

I also had a plan to so like a 3 hr radio show when the bastard died but instead I was out of town for like a month and then it seemed like the moment was gone. And that cunt Thatcher outlasted my radio career.
