As lists go, that's a pretty decent one i reckon. Not even a howler thrown in for shit stirring potential. Not sure i agree with description of RtC as "divisive" though. Always thought that was more true about SISOSIG.

Shit, how did I forget Casbah in my list? I'm in the "love it" camp. Live versions were horrific though.

This about Complete Control...
the song is also notable for containing one of the only guitar solos Mick Jones produced for the band
Are these people on fucking crack? Have they heard GEER?

It's astonishing how wretched Casbah sounded live. I get that some songs are studio creations, but Casbah somehow defied live performance.

It seems the important parts were the handclaps and piano.

Perhaps. It never sounded like the parts ever got in sync live.

Can't really argue with any of that. Gotta say I prefer Radio Clash over This Is Radio Clash.

Yeah I don't mind either version but the lyrics may be better on "Radio Clash" so you have a point. I suppose the thing to consider is it was supposed to be one piece of music and not two sides of a 7".

I do like that co-joined version. ;)

Massively cool. That period before West Coast punk became hardcore too often gets subsumed as imitative of what happened in NY or London, or not sufficiently "punk" compared to hardcore. But it was fantastically weird and creative.

They got the #1 right. I'd say 17 or 18 of those would be in my top 20, tho with a different order.
Complete Control at 19?? We all know that is their best track ;)

Top 5, anyway. I think it's one of the (many many many) songs Greil Marcus has written about as causing the universe to stop, reverse course, and then do a lay up every time he hears it.
