Do you want my homemade Reaganstien: Punk Against Reagan comp to share with the class? :shifty:
I've got it. Passed it on to previous classes.
Really? Can I get a copy because I think I lost it.
I’ll look when I get home.
I found my raw data folder.
Ah, good, cos I was wrong about the comp I had of yours. I have the Quincy one.

The curmudgeon strikes again:

I'm not sure how to post the whole thread, but he goes off for a bit.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Extremely funny thread. Has anyone ever seen Steve Albini and revbob in the same room together?

Honestly, the thread made me put Aja back on. It's alright.

Albini is what Lydon imagines himself to be. MacKaye might be punk's moral conscience, but Albini is its righteous spleen.

An observation: "King of Pain" by The Police is still a decent song, but those lyrics are dorm-room philosophy cringe. One of many reasons to want to punch Sting in the nose.

Really, any “I’m a serious thinker” lyrics by Sting. The “oh, fuck off” factor keeps me from fully enjoying The Police.

Synchronicity II is the best song of that era, my favourite Police song.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

I still quite like that album in its entirety—I’m one of, like, nine people who genuinely love the spluttering nonsense of “Mother”—but Sting’s Stingness (like Morrissey’s Morrisseyness) is something I have to filter out.

I generally like the Police, but yeah - the Stingness is something I also have to filter out.
