Ironically enough, Pearl Jam has become an incredibly boring middle of the road rock band in their persuit of being anti commercial and distancing themselves from the success of their grunge heyday. They’ve lost any of the flavor that made them an interesting band in the first place and have settled into being a mindfuckingly boring rootsy dad rock band. They were better making cocky grunge rock anthems.

Become a boring band? They've always been a boring bloated band. I remember the fuss people made when they first appeared and I listened to that first album. Just a load of crap from the off, turgid AOR.RockNRollWhore wrote: ↑18 May 2021, 12:40amIronically enough, Pearl Jam has become an incredibly boring middle of the road rock band in their persuit of being anti commercial and distancing themselves from the success of their grunge heyday. I guess Bill Wyman's horrible visage was socially acceptable in the mid 70s:
Who the hell approved this shit?
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

The 1970s celebrated ugliness in a big way.

Meh I rate the Debut and VS. pretty highly. But yeah it’s essentially late 80s hard rock filtered through some grungy guitars with vaguely socially conscious lyrics. Creed is way better though. I think Scott stapp is the most beautiful man to ever walk this planet earthMarky Dread wrote: ↑18 May 2021, 5:32amBecome a boring band? They've always been a boring bloated band.
