This is in my YouTube favourites, great performance. I love the Jam live around this time. Weller is intense and wired to fuck.gkbill wrote: ↑18 Sep 2020, 2:02amHello,
Okay, I'm old -but I challenge any young person to post a current band that can deliver this level of performance. The crowd are n the same floor as the band yet remain a step back realizing they're not on the same level as the band - not wanting to interrupt the band. I would suggest current young people would be grabbing the mike trying to get their youtube or instagram moment (oops, old fart creeping out). Enjoy!

Yep the Spil Op footage is great. It's on one of the box sets. Regards your comment of fans not wanting to disrupt the band. It is a studio set up and back then no mobile phones or YouTube of course. I think young fans in a similar studio setting today would be just as restrained.gkbill wrote: ↑18 Sep 2020, 2:02amHello,

I think the studio would set there rules out for filming before the recording starts. It's all down to the studio environment and the atmosphere they want to create. Very different to a real live setting.

The Fire and Skill box is one of my fave of all time. The set from Newcastle 1980 is especially powerful.Heston wrote: ↑18 Sep 2020, 2:13amThis is in my YouTube favourites, great performance. The list has gotten a bit less white and specifically a bit less old white men. This is a good thing.

Weird one. Was listening to more of Gogol Bordello on Deezer, as recommended by rev. The next suggested song was by a band called The Dreadnoughts, really enjoyed it and searched their name on here to see if anyone has posted about them. Turns out (though I haven't spoken to her on here) it's Suzanne's boyfriend's band.

Yep I remember Suzanne posting about them. It was her boyfriends (at the time) band although it's a long time since she posted here.BitterTom wrote: ↑24 Sep 2020, 3:42pmWeird one.
