Misheard Lyrics

Post by Wolter »

A few lines I've personally misheard in songs (and one from a friend in high school that I found hilarious):

My hearing: "Don't masquerade in the dying shades of love"
Real Lyric: "Don't masquerade with the guy in shades, oh no."
- Corey Hart, "Sunglasses At Night" (I like mine better)

My hearing: "It's time to be Jamaicans"
Real Lyric: "It's time to meet your makers"
- Fugazi, "Latin Roots"

My friend's hearing: "Gangway, Street Slave! I'll never behave!"
Real Lyric: "Langauge keeps me locked and repeating"
- Fugazi, "Stacks" (always cracks me up)

My hearing: "Lately one or two fully blooded Jews have been working for the Clampdown."
Real Lyric: "Lately one or two have fully paid their dues for working for the Clampdown."
- What do you think?
”INDER LOCK THE THE KISS THREAD IVE REALISED IM A PRZE IDOOT” - Thomas Jefferson

"But the gorilla thinks otherwise!"

"Lately one or two fully blooded Jews have been working for the Clampdown."
Well, that lyric is flatly impossible...
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

My hearing: A year has passed since I broke my nose.
Real lyric: A year has passed since I wrote my note.

There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

I'd be willing to break Sting's nose if it will help.

Well, that lyric is flatly impossible...
We can watch him make it on the nine o'clock news
Standing there in Palestine fighting the jews
We reach the parts other combos cannot reach
We beach the beachheads other armies cannot beach
We speak the tongues other mouths cannot speak

Listen, Brits don't see Jews.

Related note: I used to think the following musical titles were correct (as a child):

"The Best Little Warehouse in Texas"
"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamboat."

That one made me chuckle. I'll probably hear that from now on.

What, you chuckling instead of the lyric?

Midnight to six man
For the first time from Jamaica
Villager and a Lee Right Smart
Do Right Wilson, a cool operator

Camp boots a UK pop reggae
With backing fine sound systems
And if they've got anything to say
There's many blacks in television

My body was fucked up so nice with uncool stage fright
Dancing from the bass line to the trouble
But onstage they ain't got no roots rock rhythm
Onstage they ain't got no...roots rock hello-ooooo

Vespa, vespa. This is a booby in a tank
'Cos it won't get you anywhere
Fooling with the cunts
The British Army is waiting out there
An' it weighs fifteen hundred tons
a lifetime serving one machine
Is ten times worse than prison

I know the proper lyric, but it always sounds like UK pop brigade and blues rock rebel to me.
