The Beatles lyrics certainly don't read well on paper. It was always about those great melodies, harmonies and chord shapes. The words are just there as a vehicle for those really.
There are some great Beatles lyrics but this song is all about the music. Too many lovely dovey lyrics early on for me.

Love subject covered- Joe Strummer.

I don't think the lyrics were that great later on to be honest. Isolated moments of greatness, some good stuff, a lot of gobbledygook.

I absolutely love the lyrics to I Am the Walrus as sung. I'm not gonna do anything dumb like read them in isolation.

The next time you are on a busy train or bus with your earbuds in pretend you are having a conversation with someone but just recite the lyrics to Walrus instead. I reckon you'll have a seat in no time.

Distinctly average early Beatles material. Call me an uncultured swine but the majority of their early stuff is dull and very samey.

What can I say, I'm an uncultured swine. Just doesn't appeal to me at all.

10/10 for Hilary Briss.
