I tend to think of them as the musical wing of John Waters.Heston wrote: ↑09 Aug 2019, 7:57pmI think everything great about the B-52s was distilled into that song. I like some of their other tunes but it was a one shot deal.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑09 Aug 2019, 7:35pmGenerally speaking I agree with you, mainly because kitsch is too often applied in a dumb joke kind of way rather than a bewildering and intriguing raid-on-the-past manner. Frankie and his band are looking a bit cabaret but this is an awesome version of a great song. More key changes than Linus Yale but it is totally seamless...

Yeah I love them. I try to get people into them but dont get a lot of takers. They can be pretty rough sounding at times. Guitar Shop Asshole came on while I was driving to work this morning.

The original is great but this is pretty cool too.

"You were born too soon, I was born too late" is a prime Gen X lyric. Maybe it's whiney, but it's pretty accurate.

This is good. Like Pixies and Sonic Youth getting thrown in the Fly machine.

Been a long time since I've seen this. Long enough that I'd forgotten what a goddamned weird assembly of characters it contains. Also, without a doubt, the first time I heard rap—my sister bought Autoamerican] when it came out, and I always played her albums when she wasn't around—but, to my memory, it didn't seem unusual to me. Just a different way of singing.

Been ages since I last heard this, amazing. When that bass kicks in I can't resist a boogie.

Somehow I've never seen this before, but it's exceptional, like a long-lost silent era horror film.
