I can't believe I never sussed this before.

Riff stolen for this.

To be fair it's quite a common chord sequence. But it is also quite rhythmically close. Maybe an innocent mistake, maybe not. The Clash used the same same sequence for Groovy Times, U2 later used it on With Or Without You.
I'd be stunned if The Only Ones hadn't heard The Vibrators.

Just found this from an interview with Knox. Talking about pre Vibrators.

But that was when I originally wrote things like ‘Whips & Furs’, ‘Sweet Sweet Heart’, and a few other things. It’s funny because I wrote ‘Whips & Furs’ back then, and a couple of years later, I heard ‘Another Girl Another Planet’ which pretty much uses the same chords... at first I thought they’d pinched my song ! Anyway, we called the band ‘Lipstick’, but it eventually ran out of steam.

Newly unearthed footage of XTC on What's On in 1979. Andy's guitar is brilliant on this...

Love or hate Geldof (most here seem to hate him). The Rats were a fucking great band.

Yeah the Libs said as much themselves regarding The Only Ones. They covered that track many times.

Yeah, this sounds and looks great. I want the rain jacket Andy's wearing.

Very taken by this off the new Sufjan Stevens album. Mesmerizing video and a quiet statement against, I assume, the treadmill of online existence.
