Way too similar to the original for it to be a good cover in my book.
I think it's sufficiently laidback to be a proper cover, but, yes, it's not a significant re-interpretation.

You find it not tuneful?
Not by their standards.
Way too similar to the original for it to be a good cover in my book.
Fair enough. I really like it though.
I dug it. Nice vocals and thought they put a bit of a slant on It, almost country-like.
Yep agreed.
Should've done it in a Ska style and released it in a pastiche of the 2 tone sleeve. Then 101 would've been raving about it.
I just thought they could do more with their vocal harmonies.

Tep bringing up ELO reminded me of how much I like the Beautiful South's cover of "Livin' Thing."
Does anyone else hear Inoculated City in the intro?

That riff has been used so many times. Can You Feel It, Material Girl, I'm sure there's a few more.

I'd still like to think they lifted it from the ELO song. We've already established they stole SISOSIG from TRIO, so who knows.

The weirdest Clash steal is U2 pinching the riff for Discotheque from The Fulham Connection 2 when it hadn't even been officially released.

You can't. That's what makes it so weird.
