when i lived in breck, halloween was basically a big block party. the streets shut down so kids could safely walk around and all the neighbors hung out grilling, drinking and passing out treats and such. it was great.
We never really got trick and treat and stuff til the early 90s. Before that you just wandered around aimlessly with a turnip lantern.
This sounds quite sad.
Nah, we saved it up for the 5th November, Bonfire Night, Guy Fawkes Night whatever you like. We had a blast.

Yep.

We'd collect wood for months in the lead up to "Bonty Night." A cat and mouse game would ensue with other estates and the authorities.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

We used to take our kids trick or treating but yeah nothing really happened here 'til the 90s.
I specifically mean the turnip lantern. Sounds like something from Dickens. Im just imagining Heston going around with coal dust on his face holes in his clothes carrying a turnip lantern..."got any sweets guv?"

Rev's original impression isn't far from the truth, but replace "guv" with "mister."

Hello,

I'm surprised at the lack of Alice Cooper songs - maybe I don't get horror as well as I should.
