Just dug out my old K-tel collection and got this song on Star Tracks which has got some great pop stuff on it: 7teen by The Regents, Echo Beach, Turning Japanese, When I'm WIth You. Of course there's a fair amount of schlock on it too, but to a 12 year old it was all Rock 'N Roll

Ha, it sure is! I think K-Tel should really have stuck to the Disco & Pop labels where they couldn't fuck it up completely. But the music was great so who cared really? Never actually came across that collection before, but I have a different K-Tel album with Toast on it and always loved that song, definitely the highlight of Paul Young's career.Marky Dread wrote:You're welcome mate.Low Down Low wrote:Brilliant mate, thanks. My favourite Paul Young related thing is that, when covering Nicky Thomas' Love of the Common People, Strummer had to make very clear that he wasn't taking a song from the catalogue that contained Wherever I Lay My Hat.Low Down Low wrote:Ha, it sure is! Can't think why that should've bothered Joe. Both are great songs and Paul Young's version of WILMH is excellent.Silent Majority wrote:My favourite Paul Young related thing is that, when covering Nicky Thomas' Love of the Common People, Strummer had to make very clear that he wasn't taking a song from the catalogue that contained Wherever I Lay My Hat.Low Down Low wrote:Ha, it sure is! I can't really say anything positive about Paul Young other than that not even he could manage to butcher Love of the Common People...actually at a push I'd probably prefer to listen to his version than Joe's live take.Marky Dread wrote:Can't think why that should've bothered Joe.
