Song grade: B, maybe B+ It's definitely one of the better songs of the ones I've reviewed on the strengths of the vocal melodies. It's not a great song by any means and its popularity in the UK is a bit confusing, but it ranks at the top or near the top of the songs I've done thus far.
It's inane as fuck, but it's pretty much right in the middle of the pack of its genre at the time, which is a bit better than other stuff you've endured.
Next week: We get creative with our song titles with "Uh! All Night." Hopefully it's more "Uh!" and less "uhhhhh."
I can assure you, it's "unh!" Tho I do like the idea of a song guided by the idea of being wary or dismissive all night.
Yeah, that "n" would have helped.
I was going to look up popular rock songs in 1987, but I had put way too much thought into this as I usually do. I mean relative to what I was actually reviewing.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
I've never heard of Marillion before. Maybe that's on par with CCN.

You put a perverse amount of thought into these reviews. It's appreciated, but it's crazy (crazy crazy crazy …).

Listening to this. This seems dated for even 1987. Like this should have come out in 1979. It sounds like Boston but with more aggressive vocals. CCN is better than this. Holy shit these guys have had a long career of popular albums in the UK and not the US: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marillion_discography

They used to be the darlings of Kerrang magazine back in the 80s when i basically a metal magazine. Never made sense...

They're some kind of post-70s prog rock band. Minor success in Canada in the mid-80s. They showed up in a Michael Lewis book about the Internet and future trends because they were one of the first bands to crowdfund an album.

Marillion are responsible for a whole generation of thirty something's in the UK being called Kayleigh. Check that and Lavender out for the reason they were so big in the UK. Solid rock songs.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Ha! (That's the song I know.) Along the same lines of Daryll Hannah's character in Splash being the source of all the Madisons who have sprouted like weeds across North America since the mid-80s.

That would be funny. Daddy used to spank it to your namesake …

Im at a loss though for whoever else launched the popularity of that name.

Sounds hot does she have a sister?
I had to lookup the Hanson part. Found there was a pornstar with that last name who went by the screen name of Nicole Clitman, that gave me a hearty laugh.

For a brief period in the late 80s, Saskatoon legalized stripper bars, but they couldn't serve alcohol. So what happened was a lot of bars were now opening at 11 am for dry lunch and leering. And they did a lot of advertising in the local paper as to who was performing that week. My favourite name that I can remember was someone who went by the name Tara Part. I hope she looks back on hr dancing days with fondness.
