Ok, I'm gonna try and keep all the KISS talk here. You'll be getting videos, songs, KISSTORY lessons and general ramblings about THE HOTTEST BAND IN THE WORLD!!!!!

Exhibit One: Check out Gene and Paul's early version of KISS, Wicked Lester....

"Yes", I hear you cry, "derivative of Jethro Tull." BUT..... listen to that chorus, there's a bit of a reggae feel there, showing how versatile KISS would become in the future, enabling them to jump on any bandwagon going.

In the interest of harmony and amity, I will admit that I like the song "Strutter."

Concur. Detroit Rock City is also pretty fun.

Right, if we're counting comedy albums, I nominate Music From the Elder.

You think a world without heroes is funny? You heartless fuck.

My friend turned me on to this tune a few years back. I had never seen the video until just now. It's ridiculous, Gene's wagging his tongue at everything - Paul, the camera, all the girls in the video. No one is pretending to play their instruments, even Eric Carr jumps on Paul's back during the second verse to sing a harmony when he's supposed to be on his kit!

Question for Heston: Did Paul take more lead vocals when they became unmasked due to him (at the time) being less ugly than Gene?

That song is actually pretty sad and touching, also a co-write with Lou Reed.
A world without heroes
Is like a world without sun
You can't look up to anyone
Without heroes

And a world without heroes
Is like a never ending race
Is like a time without a place
A pointless thing devoid of grace

Where you don't know what you're after
Or if something's after you
And you don't know why you don't know
In a world without heroes

In a world without dreams
Things are no more than they seem
And a world without heroes
Is like a bird without wings
Or a bell that never rings
Just a sad and useless thing

Where you don't know what you're after
Or if something's after you
And you don't know why you don't know

In a world without heroes
There's nothing to be
It's no place for me

The best part is the frequent use of similes, which meshes with interviews with Paul and Gene, who constantly describe Kiss using similes (e.g., Kiss is like a party—you stick around as long as you're having fun; Kiss is like a sportscar—it goes fast and all the girls want to ride it).

That's from the horrific "Bon Jovi" period, which I have no interest in. My input in this thread will deal with the years 1973-1981, though other people can talk about the "Vinnie Years" or suchlike if they choose.
