I was trying to make fun of Canadians on another message board by looking up "Tears Are Not Enough" and got distracted by this:
The verses are pretty weak, so I was hoping for a big catchy chorus or some good monster balladness, but it's just not very good. Best thing about the video is the set and Paul's yellow/green gloves. This came out in 85, I wonder if the set designer caught an 84 Clash show with those mounted tvs.
Also, looks like Eric Carr has tympanis, but they are like 10 feet away from his massive kit and placed on opposite sides. Seems like a lot of work to get those orchestral tones.

Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Gene Simmons is truly awful. Everything about him is terrible.matedog wrote: ↑26 May 2021, 12:32pmI was trying to make fun of Canadians on another message board by looking up "Tears Are Not Enough" and got distracted by this:

Oh lord but that's wall-to-wall terrible. The only thing worthwhile is in some promo behind-the-scenes thing, during Neil Young's take, the producer stopped things and told him he was off-key, and NY replied, "Hey, man, that's my style."

I kinda like his pink dress (house coat?) and fancy little dance step he's doing.matedog wrote: ↑26 May 2021, 12:32pmI was trying to make fun of Canadians on another message board by looking up "Tears Are Not Enough" and got distracted by this:

I'd really like to know who they thought their target audience was with those outfits. Cos your average hetero male hard rock fan was never going to be secure enough in their sexuality to endorse that.

Jesus, I've just had a look and it's coming up ten years since I started this thread. Scary stuff. Nearly as scary as 80s KISS.

Remember when I started posting fan art regularly for several months? https://clashcity.com/boards/viewtopic. ... 87#p380487
Sadly, too many links are dead now.
