Please take note, the Replacements were nowhere to be found on this list. Take that Heston!revbob wrote: ↑26 Feb 2022, 6:46amhttps://whatculture.com/music/10-most-o ... ime?page=5

For every great song that comes and goes like Detroit Rock City or Love Gun, you also have to deal with the cheesiness of something like Great Expectations or the forced sing-along energy of Tomorrow and Tonight. Also, never forget that by becoming a KISS fan, you're signing up more for a business model rather than just the love of the music. Up until this point, it seems like Gene Simmons has been more focused on keeping the brand of KISS more alive than the actual music. Yeah, because that's what you come to all the great metal bands for...capitalism and sales figures. How much more rock and roll can you get than that?

To be fair, even in Heston’s incredibly fucked up definition of metal, I don’t think the Replacements qualify.
Actually maybe they do since he considers Nirvana metal but not Kiss.

Nirvana are metal. What else are they?? Not punk, not pop. They sound like Metallica to me with their devil voices.

Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

They don’t sound like Metallica to anyone who isn’t clinically insane.
Is there a Ratatouille under your hat when you play music? Because it’s the only explanation I can find for the fact you make good music while literally being incapable of judging it in others.
