For every great song that comes and goes like Detroit Rock City or Love Gun, you also have to deal with the cheesiness of something like Great Expectations or the forced sing-along energy of Tomorrow and Tonight. Also, never forget that by becoming a KISS fan, you're signing up more for a business model rather than just the love of the music.
