Plenty of punk scenes in various communities of various cohesiveness, coming and going.gkbill wrote: ↑24 Jan 2022, 5:44pmHello,Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑24 Jan 2022, 3:50pmYou jerks! (Actually, she hoped I'd teach it again next year and hopefully schedules could mesh.) But, dang, it would have been really good to have someone who has been actively in punk scenes for twenty years.
Are you stating there's been a punk scene for twenty years....a poser scene, sure, but a punk scene?

I had forgotten how good it is. I think Nick Mason is playing some of these tracks live in 2022. He was going to play Milwaukee on February 6th, but it's been postponed. If the timing works out, I think I'm going to call once it's rescheduled in fall.

So weird, I didn't see this but I just got finished listening to it a minute ago. Get out of my head!

Been hearing this the last couple days in a commercial, Apple I think. Short one, but I dig it.

A Place to Bury Strangers, See Through You. Man, what a fantastic band name. If you've never heard them, they're a noise (more distortion/fuzz than feedback) band with 4ADish gothy leanings. This album's okay, but so far not especially distinctive.

Your description is accurate to my ears. They have a early-mid 80's post-punk kind of sound. I don't think I'll pursue other albums but this one will get some listens.

It's listenable and all that, but not something likely to encourage further investigation.gkbill wrote: ↑05 Feb 2022, 2:07pmHello,Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑04 Feb 2022, 10:14am

Re: What Are you Listening to Right Now?
Back in 2003, my cousin and I went to the Henry Rollins West Memphis 3 show in Milwaukee. The first half of the show was Keith Morris playing early Black Flag backed by the Rollins Band. I got thrown out at the end of that set because I dared to jump up and down. My cousin left in solidarity and as we walked across the street to go to the bar, we realized we were waiting to cross with Keith Morris. We attempted to talk to him, but probably came across as two drunk idiots because while not at all unfriendly, he looked at us like he wanted to be anywhere else than where he was ...
