I had no idea Terry Hall had solo albums. I just started this, it's very inoffensive so far.
Grouchiness level?
I was working while listening so I didn't catch many lyrics but the music seemed rather lighthearted.

Hello,

Rockabilly dub is real - but is it real good?

This is from a 1981 compilation, Dancin' Master.

Hello,

The new Interrupters album In the Wild. It's solid but lacks a banger track. This is my current favorite track. The worst you may say is it's another Interrupters album and they have a few duets/brought in other artists (indicating a lack of creativity?).

Inspired by Weller's search for a mystery song, I've been listening to the Typical Girls comp. Goddamn, there is so much good stuff on here. I cite one example above.

Yeah more in the vein of The Colour Field's lighter moments. But Terry has done tons of stuff. Lots of collaborations.

This LP still sounds massive. It was one of the first rock albums I got into as a kid. I didn't like glam metal, bands like Motley Crue seemed obnoxious, but there was something about GNR that set them apart. I didn't really understand their subject matter, but it felt cool and dangerous to my young ears and Izzy Stradlin remains one of my favorite rhythm guitarists. His playing was/is absolutely brutal.

Chandra, Transportation EPs. On its own, it's a great collection of early 80s no wave songs, but all the more amazing that the singer and songwriter was 12 years old.

I didn't like glam metal either, was very in to punk rock scene, but I picked up a used CD of AFD after it had been out for a while and it's still worthy of a good, loud listen now and again.
