Still sounds more like a force of nature than a rock band.

Irritating sounds that eat away at my head. Funny odd little melodies that find their way into your brain. Then the odd rhyming couplets which make no sense but sound great all the same. I miss the awkward bugger.

It's utterly baffling how much I miss MES. The Fall were never close to my favourite band—tons of crappy or WTF songs—and he was a nasty individual, but I find it hard not to consider him a genius. As Peel said, always different, always the same. But that sound was so distinct. You can just tell that each Fall record sounds the way it does because that's what MES wanted. And they rarely sounded like anybody else. He never gave a fuck about trends, only his own demonic visions. He was an inspiration even if he was poisonous to people around him.

All the above. ;)

Good album, top 3 AC/DC alongside Highway and BiB.

Those early AC/DC albums are brilliant.

I've just listened to this and apart from the last track I think it's a decent record. Wears it's influences on it's sleeve proudly. Stones/Beatles/Bowie/Reed/Dolls.

Carbon/Silicon - 'Carbon Casino' (2008)
So much fun - warm and intimate, very loose (Mick sounds a bit drunk and in great spirits and form), much looser than when I saw them a month or so after this show. Such a great live band, I really wish they were still an ongoing concern. Goddamn I love Mick Jones.

Great, great disc. At their best, C/S were really something special.

They really were. Mick just extracting his favorite riffs and licks from his fave bands/influences, extracting the humorous and friendly side of the Clash (which many, say, casual fans, don't notice, concentrating on their "anger", if you will), and though his lyric writing style was never as poetic as Joe's, he's certainly as clever, pokey and insightful. And then there's that voice: our man Silent Majority once called it "welcoming". I love that - and so it is, so it is.

Acquired via Discogs, Edwyn Collins produced, on Postcard Records, Paul Cook on drums. That will do for me!

Your Girlfriend by Blossoms. Song of the year so far for me, such a great tune. Vocal sound is superb as is the instrumentation, saw them live a year ago, would love to see them again.

Favourite YouTube comment, "this is Jessie's Girl on crack."

Youtube stream tonight at 8pm of a recent show at Stockport Plaza.

Quality album. The CD is a bit pricey now. Did you win the lottery.
