An album I once foolishly regarded as poor. There may he a couple of duds but the rest is magnificent (maybe despite the overrated Start!) This one especially is a joy even though the first minute the lads forgot they pressed record while a fly buzzed around the studio. That's Entertainment and Man In The Corner Shop are a couple of my favourite ever songs too. A very worthy 3rd to SS and AMC for me.
My fave Jam album. Weller playing outside his comfort zone.
I found it similar to S! Took a fair few listens to get into but I really enjoy it now. I'm even warming to the Snow White esque whistling in Set The House Ablaze!
Yeah I never thought of that. I suppose it could be their S!
Certainly a change of sound to the album after the previous 4. Not as diverse as S! but a noticable change I'd argue.

I do like Music For the Last Couple once it kicks in, what the fuck was that intro all about? Agreed about That's Entertainment and Corner Shop being the top dogs on SA but I love Monday too. And if I'm listening to That's Entertainment it has to be the demo version from Direction, Reaction, Creation. It just blows the studio version out of the water for me. This is just perfect in every way...

Easily the best version first released on Snap! Weller picked it himself. I'm sure Paul.and Rick had a bit of a row over his drums on that track ruining the feel.

The mix is so superior on Direction... it nearly sounds like a different version. Louder drums etc. I just love the texture on this mix.

Hello,

Elvis Costello - Momofuku. This album somehow gets overlooked a lot. It has one of the best opening 1-2 songs of any Elvis album with
No Hiding Place and American Gangster Time. Both tracks are great tunes and have some really sharp lyrics - such as

Somewhere downtown a pretty girl kneels
Offers her soft lips and a handful of pills
Peels off her dress and then the rest of her skills
It buys what she wants and the rest she just steals

He speaks between deep swallows of rum
While her head is beating like a big bass drum
And she wishes he were mute and not just dumb
When the trick asked her quick, "Did you come?"

Well of course that had a full remaster. I was just saying Snap! was it's first release and was one of that albums selling points along with a couple of other alt takes/ mixes and the 7" live EP.

All of DRC has superior sound to the vinyl only (originally) version of Snap!. But Snap! Itself has now been remastered and re-released as a three disc edition. The first cd edition was cut down to a single disc.so omitted some tracks.
