The Story of the Clash was always my go-to collection, but this one is nice and tight.

Contains the inferior version of White Riot though.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

I prefer the single. The first Clash song I ever heard and bought. I know others like the rawness and speed of the Beaconsfield session because it's all punk rock or whatever but blah blah blah...

Totally understandable you prefer the single if you have those memories attached to it. To me though, the Beaconsfield version sounds like all out war.Marky Dread wrote: ↑15 Mar 2021, 7:51pmI prefer the single. The first Clash song I ever heard and bought. Just played the Ambient Americana freebie CD with this month's Uncut magazine. Didn't think it would be my cup of tea but I enjoyed it.
Now onto Carnage by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis.
p.s. Assembly got 8/10 in Uncut's review.

Let me know how it is, I haven't gone back to his new stuff since Skeleton Key.

Some songs just gain by repetition (London Calling?) and i think Medicine Show is one of those. Actually haven't listened to it in ages so will spin it later with the plugs in and the volume turned up so my ears might wanna bleed. There's a bit i remember where there's all the sampling and then - bang! - that recurring guitar riff kicks in double loud and it's pretty fucking awesome. Do i like it better than Moses, though? Not sure, close run thing. But then, GDM wouldnt be close to my top 10 solo joe tracks.

Have listened to Carnage just the once. First impression was I'm gonna like this album a lot after 2 or 3 more listens but almost certainly not as much as Ghosteen.

Tonight's listening was great
Now Then (plus £1.10 or Less EP bonus tracks which are fucking great)
Marky's Tighten Up remaster
Mikey Dread's S.W.A.L.K. album
Now Then sounded great for not having heard it for a couple of years, just a storming collection of great tunes. Tighten Up sounding better than ever. Mikey's album is one from my youth and my favourite album by him.
