'Mott the Hoople - Live' (1974; 2009 expanded re-master). Ferocious and menacing, though human and often tender; theatrical and bombastic yet earthy. No wonder Our Mick loved them so much.

Prince - 'Small Club 1988'. Oft boot-legged after-show gig at The Hague, Netherlands, from the "Sign O' the Times" tour with his, arguably, greatest band ever featuring Sheila E on drums. Jams, covers, un-released tracks - the thing's a beast, the stuff of legend.

Every so often, I give Stereolab a shot because I should like it. It's the kind of oddness that usually appeals. But it never gets past sounding the same or like background music.

Is this a general ambition or a Stereolab thing?Kory wrote: ↑24 May 2019, 4:14pmSomeday I hope we just give up trying.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑24 May 2019, 2:57pmI'm at the two-thirds mark and, nope, it's just not clicking.Kory wrote: ↑24 May 2019, 2:35pmI have the same problem.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑24 May 2019, 2:28pm

You are showing signs of Smooth FM contamination. I suggest a long lie down and 3 days of 6Music.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board
