I get what you mean, but take punk. I enjoyed it far more when you learn about how it evolved, key figures, social impacts, the list is endless. Don't know if I'm making terrific sense but hope you get me.Marky Dread wrote: ↑01 Jun 2019, 7:28pmNot so much a learning thing mate more a liking thing.BitterTom wrote: ↑01 Jun 2019, 6:24pmSome ELP was ok. Sure you are. There is often a social based around different music genres and vice versa.BitterTom wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 4:24pmI get what you mean, but take punk. What I'm getting at is that it is important to like what you like and not be put off by what others like or what is considered cool

But seriously... I think I was just disappointed. I love discovering new music (B.A.D a prime example) and thought Genesis would be the way to go and again I've tried to 'get' them today with no avail.

Again I'm not a Phil Collins fan but that doesn't mean I dismiss everything he has done in his career completely out of hand because he isn't considered cool.

Actually, that he looks like a tax lawyer is the most interesting thing about him. Sliding scale, of course.Marky Dread wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 6:37pmAgain I'm not a Phil Collins fan but that doesn't mean I dismiss everything he has done in his career completely out of hand because he isn't considered cool.

I dismiss everything he's done because its all awful and he sucks, not because he's not cool.Marky Dread wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 6:37pmAgain I'm not a Phil Collins fan but that doesn't mean I dismiss everything he has done in his career completely out of hand because he isn't considered cool.

Any of his songs you've got a slight liking for? Or a better way of phrasing, what's your least disliked song of his?Marky Dread wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 6:37pmAgain I'm not a Phil Collins fan but that doesn't mean I dismiss everything he has done in his career completely out of hand because he isn't considered cool.
