Love coming back to Setting Sons. Always know I'm in for a good listen but ever so slightly forget how good it really is. An album to blow your bollocks off. Love Private Hell especially and as for the sound of that bass, it, well you know.
Yep shame Weller didn’t get the time (or run out of ideas) to finish it the way it was originally intended.
Tom have you listened to the SS box set snd demos etc.. tells a good story of the album coming together.
If you look back at Tom's original post you will see he was listening to the Super Deluxe version. ;)
d’oh 🤦‍♂️

Yes, superb. Can never decide which is best, this or AMC.

Not for me, I actually prefer Modern World and the Gift to SA. Was never keen on the echoey sound of it, and has some tracks that just never clicked with me.

Maybe you should try listening to it when you are not down in the tube station at midnight. ;)

We do get a lot of mileage out of these things. Old mod cons.

Mines in reverse to yours but hey in any order that's a fine run of albums.

Yeah. There’s not a lot of daylight from top to bottom. Add in the singles and 78-80 is a hell of a run.

Emma Ruth Rundle, Some Heavy Ocean. Affecting dark Americana. At times, you can hear Elizabeth Fraser in her voice.
