ELO is one of my guilty pleasures. Lots of really great songs - and Jeff Lynne seems like a pretty decent guy. I do agree that there is a very distinct sound to his productions - very compressed - but he achieves some great sounds.BitterTom wrote: ↑29 Jul 2019, 8:16am10538 is a great tune though!101Walterton wrote: ↑28 Jul 2019, 9:15pmYes but they all sound like Mr Blue Sky, or the Travelling Wilburys or The Beatles 1995 version etc..

Hmm. The ones I’ve always heard the most are Evil Woman and Don’t Bring Me Down.

The combination of gkbill mentioning James Chance in that saxamaphone discussion the other day and me currently writing a lecture on No Wave got me to load this up again. Half joke (often offensively so) and half seriously groovy mutant disco. Great stuff.

I love ELO, great pop music.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

That brings back memories. I used to work with Pat Place, back around 1989 or so. My old boss was Don Christensen's ex-wife.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑29 Jul 2019, 1:16pm

Just as, push comes to shove, I'll take UK post-punk over punk, I'll take No Wave over American punk, intellectually and aesthetically.IkarisOne wrote: ↑29 Jul 2019, 1:19pmThat brings back memories.
