Sheffield's Finest and Kermode's Heroes made my all-time favorite Autumn album. Still works a charm. Absolute masterpiece of melancholy.

Fab band. 😎👌

Sad story too. Never got a break.

Drums on this album were recorded in the elevator shaft at the Polydor building.

I kind of lose interest after Fiction, but they're pretty damned great up til then.

I've travelled in that elevator. Fine band deserved so much better.

Swans, Leaving Meaning. This is, without a doubt, the most calm(ing) Swans record released, suggestive more of his folkish Angels of Light albums. There's something meditative to the whole thing. If much of Swans' music is about power—overwhelming, dominating, succumbing—this puts that all aside and suggests we just find peace with ourselves and the world. Maybe the weirdest Swans record yet given where Gira's come from.

Been digging into his post-Cheap recordings and finding some excellent shit. Also just watched the BBC4 doc on his life and find that I respect him even more now, as if that was possible. The guy just refuses to give up, very admirable.

Yeah I feel like I don't listen to him enough. Still making great music all these years later.

He worked on a song with one of my favorites and performed it with them in a bunch of places.

It's a puzzler. I had a good try with them a year or two back and came out of it with a clutch of songs I like.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

I like it more than I used to, but it's crazy lo-fi. When there are eighteen hundred other Fall records to choose from, I don't go to Dragnet often.

I do like a lot of the early stuff. Saw them 3 times in 79/80, one of my mates was an absolute fanatic, still is I think. I neither like nor dislike their later stuff because I haven't heard much of it. The two live tracks on the Electric Circus compilation album are really good, as are the John Cooper Clark ones.
