Ian Hunter/Mick Ronson Band - 'Welcome to the Club' (1980)
One of the best live albums ever? Recorded over a seven night stand at the Roxy in LA, it almost sounds like an excellent audience recording at times - so engaged with the audience the band is and vice versa. I saw them on this tour in fall of '79 at Northrup Auditorium on the U of M campus; don't know how I survived the gig - security taking my bottle of rum when I went outside to look for some mates (and still letting me back in even though I was clearly blasted, and 16 as well); the show ending with Ian and Ronno both egging peeps from the front rows (the orchestra pit) on stage, mayhem ensuing. I managed to swipe one of Ronson's guitar picks from his mic stand as the lights came up, still have it (heavy gauge Fender, white).
Hello,
This is a great album. I saw Ian Hunter a few times - great shows! I believe he still tours occasionally.
Like being 14 again listening to this. Still hate the title track, the rest is a lot better than I thought, really solid album, not just for nostalgia but there's some perfection in there. Holiday and Whatssername prime examples.

I haven't really listened to them before, other than Whole of the Moon due to its popularity. Is this their usual sound? Not played it all yet, but the bits that I have I have enjoyed too.

This album is not like the celtic rock of earlier records. It has more of a 70s Stones vibe.
Forces have been looting
My humanity
Curfews have been curbing
The end of liberty
We're the flowers in the dustbin...
No fuchsias for you.

Cheers Marky! I am really digging this! I tend to not really pay attention to them but this is real rock an roll

Somehow I'd never heard this Jello-related album. I'm mostly lukewarm to it, tho, as his voice is too low in the mix and I'm having a hard time understanding what he's ranting about.
"Ain't no party like an S Club party!'" - Richard Nixon, Checkers Speech, abandoned early draft
The Black Keys - Let's Rock. From a pop perspective, it's really good pop. From a Black Keys perspective, it's a bit too polished. This is one of the harder songs.
A truly underrated album, chilling out in the garden with a beer, this blaring in my ears, happy days.
I've been on a massive ac/DC kick lately. Powerage kicks all kind of butt.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

Yeah I should love this the way I love all Jello collaborations but it fell flat the first time I listened and never gave it much of a chance again.
