101 McFly, McFly...no Specials album for you McFly.

Why don't you make like the protagonist of the song Concrete Jungle and make currant buns for tea?

Oh, I'm dense. I haven't seen that movie in forever.
It's from the future. Don't worry.

Not sure I'd call it enjoyable. It's biggest problem is that it's filed under The Velvet Underground. If it were under the name Doug Yule, it wouldn't have that association to live up to (and clearly fail). Otherwise, it's pretty ho-hum, workmanlike early 70s rock.

Just a nice little album to me. I couldn't care less who's name it goes under. I don't think Yule had much choice anyhow. My fave VU album is Loaded and this is much closer to that album's feel than the debut. Each to their own poison of course I play it often.

As I understand it, Yule didn't have a choice—release it under the VU brand or not at all. Which invited accusations from critics and consumers that he was a parasite. Damned if you do …

Yes that is my understanding also. He got ripped off by the manager for his efforts. I don't think of it as a VU album at all. I do genuinely enjoy it in a harmless way.

I'm much more of a Cale man myself, first 2 for sure, heard Squeeze once and never listened to it again

I listen to his demos almost as much if not more than I listen to the Who versions, I just don't like Daltry's voice

I think that's common to most Velvets fans. I am more pop orientated in what I prefer so Loaded is always my go to VU album. Lou had an amazing pop sensibility that rarely gets a mention.

My go-to's are the self-titled third album and the sort-of fourth album VU.

I do like that "almost" fourth album, I've made a comp of the 1969 songs along with the few from Loaded that I like and it's really one of my fav's to listen to.

Yeah, that one has three or four solid tunes, and the remainder aren't exactly trash.
