Re: Heston's Friday Top 5
Jesus, so many options.
1. Robyn & Röyksopp - None of Dem
2. David Bowie & Queen - Under Pressure
3. Jello Biafra & Mojo Nixon - Are You Drinking With Me Jesus? (anything off that album, really)
4. Janelle Monae & Big Boi - Tightrope
5. William Shatner & Joe Jackson - Common People
I personally adore the Cash/Strummer redemption song but it very much sounds like the outtake it is. Just barely out of the top 5, of course in the Garth Brooks & Kiss Kollaboration on "Hard Luck Woman."

No. I think it's one on a Julianna solo album.Marky Dread wrote:Bit Part?biopunk wrote:Off the top of my head:

Jesus and Mary Chain and Hope Sandoval - Sometimes Always

Joey Ramone and Ronnie Spector - Bye Bye Baby
Fantastic!
I know there's a whole lot of soul ones I'm forgetting, and an Evan Dando & Julianna Hatfield one I'm not remembering correctly...

Another fave: Teenage Fanclub covering the Pastels, with the Pastels drummer, Katrina Mitchell, on vocals

Re: Heston's Friday Top 5
i think there's some dispute whether Bowie was actually doing backing vox on the Mott version. great production collaboration for sure, though i prefer Bowie's original Spiders version, with his great sax line and vocal.Heston wrote:Good Morning Britain - Aztec Camera/Mick Jones

I have a confession to make. And I don't blame you if you never want to speak to me again.
I love "Easy Lover" by Philip Bailey and, shudder, Phil Collins.

Of all the Phil Collins stuff it's pretty bearable. I've a friend called John (not that one) who would play it to death in his car when it was released so it took on a whole new level of ridicule.JennyB wrote:It's got a catchy melody and I love Philip Bailey's voice.Marky Dread wrote:That JennyB She'll get a hold on you believe it.JennyB wrote:I have a confession to make. Re: Heston's Friday Top 5
I always love these kinds of admissions (arguably my most embarrassing one is Wang Chung's "Let's Go," tho Paul Young's "Wherever I Leave My Hat" might be worse)—it's like Catholic confession for music fans. I'm pretty sure I've shared this story, but a friend who used to be a music writer occasionally asked me for questions when he would interview someone I was especially interested in. I always told him to ask the person to name a song they love that would appall their fans to know this. He asked this to Jello Biafra, who answered, "I kinda like Glenn Frey's 'The Heat Is On.'" I really hope to meet Jello one day just to ask him what he thinks of that song.JennyB wrote:I have a confession to make. And I don't blame you if you never want to speak to me again.
