I love the song's meaningless petulance and Star Spangled guitar solo. As well as Pursey's "American" "accent."Marky Dread wrote:Great tune but the most pointless lyrics ever. "they didn't want us in the USA, we didn't wanna go there anyway".Silent Majority wrote:Hersham Boys

Somebody was trying to tell me that CDs are better than vinyl because they don't have any surface noise. I said, "Listen, mate, "life" has surface noise."

I agree with this post.muppet hi fi wrote:i don't like Sham 69. had the first album and i think the 2nd one (the one with all the pub sounds between tracks?) in 10th grade high school in '79. really tried to get into them but just decided they sucked and i should stick with good stuff instead of bandwagon jumpers as i came to view them. maybe i should revisit some songs

If the Kids are United
Borstral Breakout
Angels with Dirty Faces
Hurry up Harry
Hershey Boys
Some good songs but note the relative similarly in these lists. But hey maybe a lot of them are like this and I'm just noticing now. At the same time this took little to no effort or thought.
The autocorrect on my phone changed Hersham to Hershey but I'm not gonna change it.

Fucking vile, repulsive set of lyrics thank fuck they changed it. Really showing their pathetic boot-boy/football hooligan rubbish. No way is that better than the single.

Thank fuck Pursey and Sham 69 aligned themselves with RAR and didn't go the way of Skrewdriver.Marky Dread wrote:biopunk wrote:Unite and Win

Disagree. It makes much more sense as the revenge fantasy, than the confusing jailbird/unrequited romance/revenge fantasy of the 7".Marky Dread wrote:

And it has better production.
Uh, and I'll just point out, you're the guy with the Travis Bickle fixation on here, so: Pot. Kettle. Black.

Yeah you're right only last night I cut my hair into a Mohawk and went on a killing spree. Seriously you're just being very silly here I am not "fixated" with Taxi Driver. I think it's a fantastic movie as I expect do many others. The original set of lyrics to Sham's Borstal Breakout are just plain nasty and you can convince yourself all you like that they were some "revenge fantasy" that Pursey dreamed up if that suits you but they are no less vile either way.biopunk wrote:Disagree. Play nice fellas, you're all good people and I hate to see any in-fighting.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board
