How old were you, my dear Olaf, when you first heard Alternative Ulster?
Dear Heston,

14 maybe. Why?
The perfect age for it, surprised it didn't resonate.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

I was 15 when I had Inflammable Material planted in my head.
15 again.
Yeah got a year in on the Buzzcocks.
78/79, great years to be 15. Nostalgia. And SLF were blistering on that tour, May 79.

Wow great stuff. I didn't get to see them until the following year at Friars, Aylesbury July. But at least I got on the Hanx! album.

Yeah I think I didn’t see them until 1980 but saw several shows 80/81 before they split in April.

When will people realise Now Then is the thinking man's SLF album? Add the £1.10 Or Less EP and Good For Nothing and you have one hell of a record of SLF in 1982. To me it's one of those albums that just doesn't put a note wrong. Perfect pop punk in a good way.

I agree I think it's a cracking album. Moving Away from the more obvious punk sound yet retaining an edge.

"Too Much Too Young" is way too slow in its album incarnation for me.

Hello,

It's a bit different rhythm granted - but that's one thing I'd consider a plus rather than a minus. Lyrically, it's so good and important.
