Isn't that the difference between how it's spelled in the states vs. UK?Toppers Boppers wrote: ↑26 Jan 2023, 12:03pmOther versions may have the 'e', but not Thin Lizzy.revbob wrote: ↑26 Jan 2023, 11:46amTechnically its Whiskey in the JarToppers Boppers wrote: ↑26 Jan 2023, 11:30amSky Saw - Brian Eno

Don't know about the states, but in the UK it's Irish Whiskey and Scottish Whisky. Which makes the Lizzy record title using Whisky (in UK) at odds with the band's origins.Kory wrote: ↑26 Jan 2023, 8:27pmIsn't that the difference between how it's spelled in the states vs.

They couldn't stand that traditional music and only started playing it as a pisstake. I wonder if the lack of "e" in the Lizzy version was to differentiate from the folkie stuff that had come before, Americanising.Marky Dread wrote: ↑27 Jan 2023, 5:25amLabel error possibly.Toppers Boppers wrote: ↑27 Jan 2023, 4:10amDon't know about the states, but in the UK it's Irish Whiskey and Scottish Whisky. I'm guessing that that reflects a greater presence of Irish immigrants in the US, while Canada was historically Scottish.revbob wrote: ↑27 Jan 2023, 9:05amAlso US = whiskey and Canada = whiskyToppers Boppers wrote: ↑27 Jan 2023, 4:10amDon't know about the states, but in the UK it's Irish Whiskey and Scottish Whisky. Foolish Irish, invading Canada is like invading Russia—you realize it's a goddamned wasteland 11 months of the year and regret your choices.

Spectacularly ill-conceived alright. I kinda like the notion that we were plucky enough to actually invade someone, but seemed a tad ambitious. Newfoundland might have been the more prudent choice.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑27 Jan 2023, 11:05amhttps://archive.ph/KcYvIrevbob wrote: ↑27 Jan 2023, 10:48amWhat's the link to read articles thru again?Low Down Low wrote: ↑27 Jan 2023, 10:41amAh well, we did our best to bring the light.
