I'm blanking and the obvious ones have been picked …

Wire - 12XU (hard to deny this as a punk song, despite Wire not considering themselves a punk band)
Buzzcocks - Orgasm Addict
The Undertones - Teenage Kicks
PiL - Public Image (c'mon, this is basically a punk song)
Rich Kids - Rich Kids (not really punk, but whatever)
Public Image is considered a post punk song and that as mentiones in my first post a follow up, top 5. Wire punk/not punk when it suits apparently ;) . Rick Kids more (pop) post punk really. Still 2 out of 5 not bad. :shifty:
I said I was blanking! :disshame:
Come on you can do better :

The Slits
The Adverts
The Fall
Swell Maps
Skids
Sham 69
999
U.K. Subs
The Lurkers
The Vibrators
The Rezillos
Generation X
Penertration
The Boys
Subway Sect
Elvis Costello

Just a few off the top of my head. Are you so comfortable these days with your head so full of coffee tables?
A lot of those I hesitate to call coffee tab … punk.
Oh well no one ever had any fun by refusing to play.

There really are so many classics and we haven't even got to the USA yet.

Too true Marky, there must 50+ classic UK debuts (punk, or on the edge of punk) IMHO, and a USA list will be immense. Mainland Europe too? Well, Metal Urbain at least :twitch:

Top 5 UK punk debut singles. We will do a US top 5 next week. Also we will will follow up with a pre-punk and post punk top 5 in the coming weeks.

The starting year here will be 1976.
...
So as long as it is some time after 1976, and punk and a debut single right?

Ok so there's the obvious/somewhat obvious top 5 that have been covered.

So if I'm not going for repeats here's my lesser known top 5

Solitary Confinement - The Members
Dim Heddwch - Anhrefn
Hypocrite - Newtown Neurotics
King of the Bop - The Nips
Revolution - Chumbawamba

Didn’t someone else say that one too? I’m too lazy to look.
