I think you're right about that, brilliant singer songwriter but dangerous to be around.
I remember an interview in a newspaper in which the writer mentioned John's tipple was a pint of cider laced with a quadruple vodka and that wasn't very long before his death. He almost made Shane MacGowan seem temperate. Well, almost anyway! But, for sure, utterly brilliant songwriter, one of my favourites.
