If I ever get a turn again I'm doing Chas and Dave.
Im afraid to look.
Thumb twiddling time!
"I used to bullseye womp rats in my T-16 back in Whittier, they're not much bigger than two meters.'" - Richard Nixon, Checkers Speech, abandoned early draft
"My head was beating like a song by the Clash..." - Richard Thompson, "Tear Stained Letter".
Richard Thompson was a great choice, one of very few musicians for whom i justify the use of the word genius. Kind of UK equivalent of Ry Cooder for me, so richly acknowledged by his peers without the wider public acclaim, kind of a guitarist's guitarist maybe. Would have to think long and hard about a top 5. He did the soundtrack for the film Grizzly Man which is one of my favourite soundtracks ever, utterly sublime.

Thumbs untwiddled, I can get right behind this.
Don't know if I could name five, but I like the four I assume I could name.
Assuming there's a few best ofs of them, give one a go, worth a listen even just for a chuckle.
Gertcha cow son!
One of my dad's prized possessions was a bass Dave played with in the late 80s. I'm sure he told me he won it in an auction but I'll have to check. Sadly had to sell it when they were skint but would love to see the pictures again.

Shame he had to sell it. But cool story. I saw Chas and Dave support The Libertines at the Brixton Academy back in the day. They went down a storm and they were great fun.

No fuchsias for you.
So, experience would suggest a simple rule for any aspiring Top 5ers: Pick your topic based on what you think will generate discussion/participation, not your personal preferences.
