As we know, successful singles often overshadow the albums they come from, but Cake had some really great album tracks too. Very unique sound.
Agreed. "Mexico" is a beauty.
Top track. I'm also a big fan of a track on the Pressure Chief album, "Take It All Away."
Ooh yeah I had forgotten about that one. I've got some Cake to listen to this weekend.
I've only got "Fashion Nugget". What would you Cake fans suggest is their best album?
Prolonging the Magic for me. I don't know their catalogue inside and out though. Curious what others think.

I heard their track "Frank Sinatra" and liked the vibe then heard their cover of "I Will Survive" and though it was trying too hard. But I saw the CD for a couple of quid and bought it. I like it enough to check out some more.

Fashion Nugget is great, though my favorite is likely Comfort Eagle. I'd put in another vote for Prolonging the Magic as well, though.

I like both of those but I know one of the more common criticisms of them is the ironic/detached thing that is very much on display in Survive. Those elements are toned down on PTM, which has more of a focus on traditional songwriting and has some lovely ballads.

Thirded on Prolonging the Magic, although every album is pretty strong.

I dont know can this possibly live up to the title, but more than happy to give it a go!
