Prolonging the Magic for me. I don't know their catalogue inside and out though. Curious what others think.Marky Dread wrote: ↑18 Nov 2022, 4:44pmI've only got "Fashion Nugget". What would you Cake fans suggest is their best album?

I heard their track "Frank Sinatra" and liked the vibe then heard their cover of "I Will Survive" and though it was trying too hard. But I saw the CD for a couple of quid and bought it. I like it enough to check out some more.msza2 wrote: ↑18 Nov 2022, 4:52pmProlonging the Magic for me. I don't know their catalogue inside and out though. Fashion Nugget is great, though my favorite is likely Comfort Eagle. I'd put in another vote for Prolonging the Magic as well, though.Marky Dread wrote: ↑18 Nov 2022, 4:55pmI heard their track "Frank Sinatra" and liked the vibe then heard their cover of "I Will Survive" and though it was trying too hard. I like both of those but I know one of the more common criticisms of them is the ironic/detached thing that is very much on display in Survive. Those elements are toned down on PTM, which has more of a focus on traditional songwriting and has some lovely ballads.Marky Dread wrote: ↑18 Nov 2022, 4:55pmI heard their track "Frank Sinatra" and liked the vibe then heard their cover of "I Will Survive" and though it was trying too hard. Thirded on Prolonging the Magic, although every album is pretty strong.
