Great track and Roadent is of course the subject matter. But I'm after songs that mention the name of an actor. Otherwise "Cracked Actor" could've counted.Toppers Boppers wrote: ↑21 Mar 2024, 2:02pm1. I'm In Love With A German Film Star - The Passions

Very wise. Agree it's a great song.Low Down Low wrote: ↑21 Mar 2024, 2:11pmYeah, i read it in a book called Trouble Songs by Stuart Bailie. Cathal said it was about a guy getting a new identity and imagining himself to be Michael Caine, or something along those lines anyway. Suggsy probably wise to duck that charged opening line i think! One of their very finest for me.Marky Dread wrote: ↑21 Mar 2024, 1:57pmThat makes sense. It was written by Carl and Woody about "The Troubles" and based on Harry Palmer in the movie "The Ipcress File" and being an informer.Low Down Low wrote: ↑21 Mar 2024, 1:47pmFun fact: the first line of Michael Caine was written as "We'll get the IRA, yeah yeah" but Suggs couldn't get himself to sing it so garbled it instead.Marky Dread wrote: ↑21 Mar 2024, 11:27amTop 5 songs with a film star/actor in the title.

I remember first hearing Christy belt that one out in Kennedy's of Puckane, Co Tipperary, in the mid 80s, sweat rolling down his cheeks as he gave Ronnie hell. Can't believe i forgot it, absolute classic.

One of many performers I would have loved to see live. He played in Boston years back and I missed the chance.Low Down Low wrote: ↑21 Mar 2024, 4:28pmI remember first hearing Christy belt that one out in Kennedy's of Puckane, Co Tipperary, in the mid 80s, sweat rolling down his cheeks as he gave Ronnie hell. Haven't seen him in many years tbh. He could be a bit irascible back in those days which, maybe not coincidental, were his drinking years. Kennedys was a small venue and the bar was close to the stage and if people were yapping too loudly as Christy was trying to perform a quiet number, he would often fly into a rage and stop singing until the fuckers quietened down. Great days really.revbob wrote: ↑21 Mar 2024, 4:35pmOne of many performers I would have loved to see live. Yeah, amazingly people would pay the cover charge just to in and drink and yap at the bar, no apparent interest in the music at all. Christy did not much care for those folk at all.revbob wrote: ↑22 Mar 2024, 9:38amTalking during something like that is inexcusable.Low Down Low wrote: ↑21 Mar 2024, 5:17pmHaven't seen him in many years tbh.
