Yeah, he does things on both electric and acoustic that you're apparently not supposed to be able to do with just ten fingers. And nobody sounds remotely like him - no blues based stuff or cliche single note leads.revbob wrote: ↑12 Jul 2019, 6:30pmMost guitar players have great respect for him.muppet hi fi wrote: ↑12 Jul 2019, 5:50pmI think you'd really dig him. But this would be deliberate and a collective effort. It's the intentional malice that's important.revbob wrote: ↑12 Jul 2019, 6:34pmThat's been done 10 times over.

Another clusterfuck without me or Marky to rein shit in.
Yes, I did a lot of synthpop bands but everyone likes a bit of Duran Duran or Depeche Mode except RevBob.

Why's it a clusterfuck? Dudes didn't/couldn't do it, so I stepped in, same as last week (remember, you and Marky post your themes on a US Thursday; we were waiting on a US Friday when Rev posted the reminder). Look at the timeline, mate: Wolt said he couldn't, I said I could and within minutes had my introductory pic up, a few minutes later had my list. What's the prob, Bob?

The difference between DD and boybands was they could actually play their instruments. I bet Kory could vouch for John Taylor's bass playing. I know Andy Taylor was an excellent guitar player. The first LP is like Roxy Music meets Japan meets Chic, they just happened to be too pretty to be taken seriously. Yeah, they went really poppy with Rio but I still maintain they were a good band until the cocaine took hold in 1983.

I'm just joking about the confusion about who's turn it was and the misunderstandings etc. Not a sleight on your choice mate. I'm not a fan of Richard Thompson myself but we can't please all the people etc.muppet hi fi wrote: ↑12 Jul 2019, 8:59pmWhy's it a clusterfuck? Of course you're not slighting Thompson - hard to believe we haven't done him/Fairport Convention before. (also hard to believe you/others don't dig/know him: melody, lyrics, highest level musicianship; and he's British ...but whatever). If you don't like peeps stepping up (or just me ), just say so. Otherwise imma do it again!Heston wrote: ↑12 Jul 2019, 9:05pmI'm just joking about the confusion about who's turn it was and the misunderstandings etc. Not a sleight on your choice mate. Go for it mate.
