The Surfer Moon remains a highly underrated early BB track. Great vocals.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

Re: Flex's Takes: The Beach Boys
What the fuck is up with the Endless Summer cover? Specifically, who is on it? And why only three people? The one without the beard I assume is Brian and the top right is Al, but who the hell is the super hairy one? Is this like a gatefold sleeve where there's an entire other half with the other two (or three or like five at this point)?
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
Re: Flex's Takes: The Beach Boys
Took a bit of searching, but I guess it is a gatefold:
I still can't figure out who the hell anyone is. Surfboard guy is Dennis cause he surfs? The super hairy one isn't actually super hairy because you can't see his hairline, so that's actually Mike which means the other one on the left is Carl? And Bruce and the two randos at the time don't exist?

Re: Flex's Takes: The Beach Boys
I think on on the front cover it's Mike top left, Carl top right and Brian underneath. On the back surfboard face is Al and magazine reader is Dennis. You know, how Dennis famously used to love reading magazines when he wasn't having orgies with the Manson Family.

Lol. Either way, it's a hell of a way to sell an album focusing on their music from like 1964.

I like to think that the wave is one big stupid cap that ML is wearing.

The Boss is watching an episode of The Handmaid's Tale and Peggy Olson just got hit by a truck while "Kokomo" plays, confirming that it is the soundtrack of violence and misery.

I don't believe so, but don't take my word to the bank. Unlike Mike, who deposited the cheque for the use in the episode in a 7-11 ATM.matedog wrote: ↑10 Nov 2022, 8:54pmDid it hit right when that sledgehammer chorus drops?Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑10 Nov 2022, 8:16pmThe Boss is watching an episode of The Handmaid's Tale and Peggy Olson just got hit by a truck while "Kokomo" plays, confirming that it is the soundtrack of violence and misery.

How many people have been murdered as a result of that song?Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑10 Nov 2022, 8:16pmThe Boss is watching an episode of The Handmaid's Tale and Peggy Olson just got hit by a truck while "Kokomo" plays, confirming that it is the soundtrack of violence and misery.

The real question is how many of those have been at Mike's hand?

Like all serial killers, he has his own bizarre kink to his murders. The last thing his victims hear is Mike relating a list of upcoming Beach Boys show. Imagine, fading to the eternal black, and this echoing in your ears: "the Omaha State Fair, August 11th and two shows on August 12th, then the Lucky Seven Casino in Cheyenne for for five days, August 13th to August 17th …"

The covers for Spirit of America and Sunshine Dream (the 2 Endless Summer follow ups) are equally bizarre.matedog wrote: ↑12 Oct 2022, 12:51pmTook a bit of searching, but I guess it is a gatefold:
