Whelp, In My Car came up on shuffle and I enjoyed it. Every time a Cruisin' song gets played and liked, a Mike Love gets a new van.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

Ah, I man after my heart.

Al and Carl sound great on that one. Take that, Island Girl, and Carl's solo vocals on the rest of the songs from SC and you have a decent uh, EP. Oh and Wipe Out too, obvs.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Holy crap, I never knew about this cover until this evening but THIS IS BRILLIANT, especially the Dali's indigestion video.
That was fuckin RAD. Just Saturday I was at my friends house and he let me choose a record during poker and I tortured the crowd with WoV, they were fucking great.

10/12 and I went against my instincts on one that I missed.

Just kidding, the show was years later and she played an all-american mom. But once upon a time...

Also, she was in From Here to Eternity, which the Clash made famous decades later by mentioning it in a song.

I'm right in there with you at 41! I once brought up on the Smiley Smile Message Board how I thought many of their songs from the Smiley Smile through Holland period sounded like they could have been released by contemporary indie bands and the 60-70 year old's came down on me like a ton of bricks.
