Rock n Roll Trivia Challenge 2013

Post by tepista »

What is the name of 2009 inductees Run-DMC's first hit? (assume they mean charting single)
We reach the parts other combos cannot reach
We beach the beachheads other armies cannot beach
We speak the tongues other mouths cannot speak

Hello,

Rockbox? It's like that?

I should know - I used to live near them in Queens.

I'm assuming this is a pretty uncomplicated calendar, general audience and all, and go with "Walk This Way."

Rockbox is a way cooler song, but Walk This Way is the answer, #4 in 1986

This one should provide some controversy..

What is the name of 2011 HoF inductees the Hollies' highest charting hit?

They want US charts, the Hollies have had several Top 5ers in the UK, including two #1's, but topped out at #2 in the states. I wikki'd for accuracy, of course.

Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress or something like that? Was a flop over here, I think.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

You know, I don't know a single Hollies song. Or at least none that I recognize as such.

I love their early stuff. I don't know what charted in Canada but they had loads of hits over here. "Bus Stop" and "Sorry Suzanne" are probably the best known of their 60s output.

King of Rock is a fairly successful rehash of Rock Box. Any Tougher Than Leather fans out there? Some of those singles are really under rated.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

"Carrie Anne" "On a Carousel" "Stop Stop Stop" are a few others.

A band from Manchester taking the miserable into the charts? That would never happen again.
