Save it for the 90's thread.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I understood that to be the thread for 90s stuff that make us cringe.

Shoegaze really isn't my bag but a friend's band is doing fairly well and I will give them a plug:

Okay, wiseguy, I've dialled them up on Spotify. You'd better not have steered me wrong.

edit: Listened to Sighs. I'd call it less shoegaze than slowcore, which isn't really my thing most days. I like it more than Hoy like Joy Division, but less than Hoy like Limp Bizkit.

Like I said, not my bag but I have seen them a few times and they were good. I still can't sort out shoegazing. When I hear the term I think of this:

There's a Hip Hop Oldies station I listen to. It's amazing how much better everything used to be.

Shoegaze is basically updated psychedelic rock, with an emphasis on a wall of noise sound and either emotionally dead or dreamy altered states vocals. The stuff that is a bit more melodic tends to be reclassified as dreampop.

Spoken like a Bostonian.
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

I've studied the phenomenon of neo-provincialism in self-isolating online communities but this place takes the fucking cake.
