This is insane. An all-timer is about to get the boot for a kind of pedestrian album track.

YOU ARE FAKE NEWS
I'm with you. SAE has such an odd shape and kinda comes in and goes out with a whimper. I love Joe's verses, but after his last the whole thing just sort of piddles out.

But this has got me quite curious to see how the rest of S! will shake out.
If this poll is any indication, something like Broadway is going to walk away with the title. :disshame:

"Red Sox/Bosstones fan makes big show of voting for funky cosmopolitanism, then secretly casts deciding ballot for nativist lament," eh? :shifty: :shifty: :shifty:🤔🤔🤔
I was always clear I was trying to vote in favor of the nativist lament!

Mag 7 is cool and important and all, but kind of a chore to listen to. It's that bass line for over five minutes and periodically they throw in that little intro. It's really repetitive.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I think both songs could use a judicious 20-30 seconds of editing. Use Mag 7 as my alarm clock wakeup song, tho. Good way to start the day.

The european 7'' mix is way better.

Hey, if you didn't want SAE to win this you should have helped protect the actual best song on side one - Junco Partner.

I faithfully voted against SAE from round one. My conscience is clean.

More early draft lyrics, this from Mag7 (RIP).

Is that the 4 minute one on Story of? The one thing that it lacks is that horrid/awesome moment of Joe yelling MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGNIFICENT that the full version has.

Oh weird, I have not heard this version: https://www.discogs.com/The-Clash-The-M ... ase/475410 The Story of is the 12" version at 4 1/2 mins vs. the 7" version which is 3 1/2 minutes.

All the mixes/edits were on my version of S!
